I wanted Ruby’s fire to be distinctly non-Zee. As such I pulled actual photo-references of flames and did it up pretty in Photoshop. I think that it looks pretty good, actually. And in case it’s not totally apparent by both her attitude and flaming ball of explosion, Ruby is pyrokinetic (can both start and control fires). And Jewel is psychokinetic (she can toss stuff around with her mind), remember?

Dusk…well…I won’t spoil the kind of -kinetic he is…but I hint at it a little bit. Pay attention to his dialogue.
