Early Days

The Galactic Alliance of Sentient Planets (or ‘peoples’ depending on who you ask) was founded in 1860.

When the people of the universe first started to venture out into space they quickly found each other and they decided that it was in their best interest to establish basic rules for interaction and, most importantly, trading.

GASP was originally founded as a trade regulation group.

Initially called the Trades Alliance (TA for Short), this early incarnation of GASP was rife with corruption and almost collapsed into itself.

Several planets stepped up and created a more structured political body; Zargonia, Velka and Rakin were the founding members of the current political organization.

Structure

Currently GASP is structured around three major planets; Zargonia, Velka, and Airosia who share power.

Though Norki has gained a great deal of muscle recently.

GASP’s center of power is one of only three Behemoth class ships in existence called ‘Furthered Hope’, housing over ten thousand beings the Furthered Hope is the jewel of GASP’s fleet.

Each planet in GASP has three representatives on the ship, with Zargonia seeing to the monetary aspect of the universe and Velka keeping track of military regime.

Split into these two parts GASP gives each planet a single vote for each question, the vote is decided among the representatives before it is given to GASP.

In recent years :

Airosia joined GASP in January of 1971 after the attack on their planet by the Brotherhood, who had broken away from GASP some years earlier.

After the attack on Airosia GASP was thrust into the first interstellar war, which lead to a split between members of the group, with some favoring outright war and others favoring a more peaceful resolution.

In the end GASP has allowed the lines of communication to remain open, while defending their outposts from attack by the Kayooshen and occasionally pushing into Brotherhood territory.

There are dozens of treaties between the super powers that cover everything from torture to allowing dissenters to leave a planet after its concurring.

GASP is considered larger than The KC but The KC possesses several highly skilled strategists as well as the ability to move troops with less debate (given that they’re a despot government and don’t care about the opinions of their people).

The KC has fought GASP to a standstill.

GASP controls most of the Sourther Rim of the Known Universe as well as several planets inside of FreeFrom space.

Recently GASP has found themselves spread thin and are in a drive to gather more troops. So far they have avoided a draft, and several planets have threatened to break ties if one is called for.
