I’m always @#$%ing with things, aren’t I?

I like it. Still debating about the size of the comic. But So far I’m liking it. The lower KB on it is enough to make me happy…but it also looks more finished. Let’s be honest, some @#$%ing comic are all space an no Art. I don’t like that. Book One avoided that a lot…Book Two? Not so much.

Blargh.

Still playing with it…Always playing with it.

But I’m happy with it again, and Wednesday’s looks to be damned fine too. Anyhow, enjoy.

-Peace

Zap‘s one of those comics that constantly awes me with the art and even manages to keep a hell of a story going at the same time. I have no clue how high up on the food chain Zap is in the grand scheme of things, but I’ve been reading it since 2006-ish (their move to KeenSpot).

I’m not trying to be purposely vague, but when you read though the entire archives of a comic in two sittings time get blurred.

Also, remember the Cybers from Book One? Look at their eyes in this comic. See? They’re kinda like cheap ass television sets on the blink? All static-like? Yeah, dumb, right? Check out their later appearance right here. See? All red and glowy. Much more menacing.

That’s almost exclusively because of Zap and it’s artist Lepas. A few months after I started to read it they posted The Glow Swatches on their DA page.

From there I started to screw with all sorts of blurry, glowy, awesome.

So, if you don’t like it, blame them…

No, really, don’t. It’s not their fault I’m not as competent. Heh.

Anyhow, enjoy the sneak peek of Gunner in my little fan comic.

-Peace

(PS: Remember, I’m leaving on Wednesday, so I’m away from my comp. I’ll hopefully have something on Wednesday for you all, but I make no promises. There’ll also be filler upon my return on Monday, probably something PKF oriented. Your regularly scheduled updates will resume Wednesday July 29th, Gods permitting.)

Back at the beginning of Book One, Chapter Eight a reader (Keyo, from the shoutbox) asked…suggested…That Tom should acquire some sort of Power Ranger teleport tech for his overly long blade.

I almost said it then, but I decided to keep it a little bit of a secret, but I knew then that Mark would hook Tom up with that one on his first outing.

You see, tadillen (the metal his sword is made from) has a curious effect on energy, it dampens it and disperses it. Which is fantastic for a Zee fight where your opponent is so skilled that they can put up a shell of energy to block you attacks, tadillen cuts through it like butter. But it sucks because you cannot get a lock on the metal using conventional telemeters and the regular tracking system.

Mark found a rather simple work around for this issue. Mark will pretty consistently find ways of doing things that neither Zog nor Mog would have thought of. Zog because he’s not creative, Mog because he doesn’t think about stuff like this. Mark is the first member of the PKF who’s intellect borders on fictional.

This boy is an effing genius. Hana’s smart. Mark makes her look like a kindergartner.

The problem is all of his ideas are well ahead of Earth’s tech level…Now he’s been released into a candy store with an unlimited, federally funded, budget to do what ever his heart desires.

Mark IS the tech support of this comic and he is REALLY not suited for the field. But he’s a great fighter in his own right and will go wherever Hana goes. So here he is.

Anyhow, to Keyo, if he still reads this little slice of the Internet, here’s the sword-o-port. And it will be well used.

Also, I feel that I should comment on the recent rash of celebrity deaths this weekend. I can’t say that I ever really kept track of Ed Mcmahon Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson or Billy Mays. But my mother called me up when she heard about Jackson and was very sad about his death, which says a lot about the man, considering most celeb deaths don’t phase her…and as for Farrah, it sucks that she had fought cancer for so long only to go out like that, but it was a hell of a fight. Ed? Dude, you MADE Carson. I never even saw the show and knew about you. Mays?…Well…I bought the effing ‘oxiclean’.

And it works.

-Peace

It’s funny, you could call Tom’s list of ‘ideas’ in panel five a collection of crap that was originally in the story but was cut at some point.

Remember, The PKF has existed in some way since I was eight years old…It’s bound to have changed a lot over the course of the years. But, as a few people have asked, yes, the agents were supposed to receive ways to control various elements this arc. However, that was really pointless and I decided to nix that all the way at the start of Book One.

Flight was nixed before the comic even started. Reason: Too Dragonball Z-ish. They already shoot energy. No need for flight. I kind of adressed it in This Comic (one of my favorites from Book One). But there will never be flight unless someone spontaneously grows wings of some sort. IE: There is no effing flight in The PKF. Sorry.

Giant Robots? Those havent been around since I was twelve. Honestly, I just wanted them because the Power Rangers had them. I think I used them all of three times, and all three times it was forced and stupid. Of course I was TWELVE so the whole story was forced and kind of stupid. But without those old stories there wouldn’t be a PKF as you know it…So hey.

Mechs? Yes. Giant transforming robots? No.

Oh, and wish my mother a Happy Birthday if you think about it. Without her there wouldn’t be a me…and then there’d be no PKF-y diversions.

Enjoy.

-Peace

EDIT 11:00 am: I totally forgot the bags under Chris’s eyes in panel three, I’ll fix it later today when I get home. Sorry about that, but they’re still there! I promise./EDIT

So Tom got the gem, they’re finally out of the cave, Dis has returned to his silence, and shit’s REALLY going to start heating up soon…Well…After the big reveal of The Creator.

And you finally get a little insight about This Comic From Book One (I can finally link to my own site! Yay!). Chris uses the fact that he doesn’t need oxygen as a way of illustrating his obvious lack of a body and the organs contained within. See, I wasn’t just being odd. I had actually thought I’d dedicate half this comic to Chris explaining why ‘Breathing’ was so important to him, but I think that this understated approach was much better and I’m happy to have used it instead. It makes Chris seem so much more resigned to it.

And if you’re down here wondering why Tom’s still being kind of nice to Chris, it’s TOM. That’s kind of the guy’s nature. But if you notice he’s not apologizing to Chris anymore. Tom knows he @#$%ed up, but he also knows that Chris won’t forgive him.

But that doesn’t mean that Tom won’t try to win Chris over, or at least show him a little kindness. It worked for Sam, and Sam wanted to kick Tom’s ass…I really need to post a short story about that one…Ah well…maybe later this Summer.

Enjoy the comic.

-Peace

First of all, I decided that I wanted to start drawing the speech bubbles myself. “What spurred this?” you might ask. Well, I’ve been reading Bone (by Jeff Smith) for the umteenth time and I decided that I wanted bubbles like Jeff Smith, because Bone (and by proxy Smith) is one of my favorite books of all time (and writers/artists). If you haven’t read Bone yet, you really should, it’s by far one of the best comics of all time and if you don’t enjoy it you might be a communist (not that there’s anything wrong with that, mind you, but hating Bone is a good sign of it).

Anyhow, If you like the bubbles, give me a shout, it’s likely to stay this way until I decide otherwise. Or until I’m told it sucks. But it’s rather nice if I do say so myself.

And the whole ‘Sword is actually three pieces’ thing? I decided on that towards the end of Book One, I also decided a few little things about Tadillen that haven’t been explained yet. If I find a proper place, I’ll explain it…if not, it doesn’t really matter…But I’m bound to write it down somewhere.

What is Mark doing to Tom’s sword? A few of you might guess, but don’t ruin it for the others.

Haha

Lastly, I should have said this on Monday, but honestly it didn’t seem all that important; I’ve set up a third comic site (no, I’m not insane) hosting Book One. There’s really nothing there that’s worth mentioning (aside from the amazing Book One, heh), but feel free to peruse it at your leasure. I was just sick of the ComicGen site being down when I wanted to get into it…which was a good reminder of why I MOVED off from there also. Enjoy, I mihgt add a little more to it as I go along, but who knows.

-Peace

You were wondering why I’ve let Chris get away with so much crap? It’s because I knew that he was going to get punched RIGHT in the balls here.

I felt like I needed to remove any possibility of ‘Paoken is Tom’s father’ before the seed could be laid in any one’s head. Tom’s father is mortal. Completely and utterly. And the fact that there were more than one ‘Toms’ was suggested first by Kyren in Book One, but later affirmed by Ariea at her Reveal in Chapter Three.

I really don’t have much to say about today’s update, it’s exposition (badly needed exposition), Monday will see a return to the HOLD and more Stone-Sam antics.

However, I managed to do something to the Stories Section that had been bothering me for a while. There weren’t any indentations at the start of the paragraphs, the best I could do was include several periods and turn them white, so they would disappear. But after a little fooling around I’ve created a new template that comfortably creates little indentations for each paragraph. I know…I shouldn’t worry about such minor things, but it just BUGGED me.

Call me a perfectionist if you will, but my track record for grammar and spelling say otherwise.

-Peace

More times than I’ve ever rewrote a comic before.

Seriously, this thing went though half a dozen tweaks so that I could make it as clear as possible and I STILL feel like it’s too wordy and confusing…but…let’s be honest here, it’s still better than half of Book One’s really wordy comics.

First of all, the title of this comic is a play on ‘Those Crazy Zargonians‘ which was Chapter Four of Book One. Also, the COMIC that this comic is directly referencing is #153, right here. See, I’m aloud to contradict a previous comic because Zog and Mog aren’t infallible and Dis ACTUALLY knows what’s going on. It’s nice to write loopholes int stories…you never know when you might need them down the road.

Haha…In all seriousness it’s nice to FINALLY explain just WHAT the Hell Chris is! I’ve been sitting on it since ’06 for Gods’ sake.

Wednesday will have a REAL kick in the balls for Chris though. Seriously. Psyche-Destroying kind of kick in the balls.

And if you find it odd that Tom is less concerned with Dis being a ‘separate entity inside his mind’ than Chris being part of his soul, you have to understand that Tom’s come to grips with the fact that Dis is there, he’s not controllable, and he’s usually helpful (unlike Chris’ vicious self).

I’m not making a HUGE deal out of the revolution that The Power (I’m capitilzing it now, btw) came from a God is because I’m SURE you all guessed this one when Paoken all but STATED it at the end of Book One. But to anyone who’s reading from the start of Book Two will likely find this revelation rather major. Just as Tom does…since…you know…he was unconscious when it was revealed in Book One. Haha

(I just realized that Paoken smoked Ciggarets not Stogies at first…Weird…I always saw him as a Cigar kind of God…)

And how about that ‘Balloon’ Analogy, eh? Dis…Dis is the rubber-band in this instance and Chris is the ‘bubble’…I know, it’s not perfect, but I felt like a visual analogy would help. I hope you feel the same.

Anyhow, any questions feel free to ask (as usual). But I AM really a happy with this one…and I’m even happier with the next one.

-Peace

Last week (if you read this blog) I told you that today was going to be back at the HOLD…but I decided I wanted that comic to go up Monday…you’ll get why Monday, but trust me, it works much better.

And if you’re interested that story I was saying was on it’s way is here. Check out ‘Judgment’. It’s a good one, I won’t spoiler the ‘twist’ on the ‘hero’…but you’ll likely guess in about two seconds. Be warned, it’s bloody as hell…but given the hero it fits. Still, it’s a goody.

Anyhow, we’re getting a good look at what’s made Chris into who he is today. He’s not just @#$%ed up. He’s @#$%ed for a reason. I think nearly ten years of isolation and sorrow is enough to break anyone. It’d screw me up anyhow.

Hell, I’d go so far to say that Chris is in better shape than most people would be.

You also get a little idea of just what Dis was doing the whole time he was involved in Tom’s mind. Next Wednesday you’ll get a real twist…A real bombshell. You’ll like it.

I keep saying that Chris is probably one of my favorite characters in the comic, so it’s kind of hard to keep him as evil as he is…but I don’t think Chris would be Chris without the whole ‘homicidal rage’ thing he’s got going. And trust me. If Chris was free he’d start killing folks left and right…but mostly the ones in his way.

I don’t really know what Chris would do if he got free…I mean beside torture and murder Tom. I mean after that. I don’t think he’d really care about conquering the universe…He says he does…but I think he’d get bored after a while and just start tormenting random people.

My favorite character is a murdering psycho who’d only want to torture and torment…I’m not sure what that says about me.

-Peace

Here’s a little factoid for you; Dis wasn’t supposed to reappear until Book Four of this comic.

So why is he here now? Because he needs to be here…There’s so much of this arc that I’ve only decided to include in the last few weeks…I might as well just SCRAP the layout I had.

Oddly enough there’s fewer pages in the arc now though. Go figure.

Yes, Chris’s soliloquy is the SOLE reason Dis appeared as a skull and not as a dragon or statue or something else entirely. But I suddenly had this vision of Chris holding a skull and delivering the famous lines from Hamlet and this just HAD to happen. I’m not even a fan of Shakespere and this had to happen, lol.

I’m pretty happy with this comic all things considered. There’s a few panels that went a little wonky, but that’s the charm of being a comic artist with no artistic training. heh…

ANYHOW…I was digging though my pages earlier this week and I realized that about two months ago I nearly finished something but never posted it…Long story. But I cleaned it up and you can now find Information on the ‘Minor’ Planets of The PKF. It’s under the Extras/Information Page if you’re looking.

Enjoy.

-Peace
