But I just wanted to point out that comic number four‘s background is slightly blurred out when compared to the foreground. I decided to give this a shot for multiple reasons, but mostly because I wanted to see if it looks more ‘professional’.

Soo…does it? Haha!

It didn’t add much (any) time, and wasn’t all that hard, but if it doesn’t do anything for yah, I’ll likely just abandon it. Or I’ll keep going because why the hell wouldn’t I?

But things are really heating up in the PKF, and I’d like to get another update out soon. So I’ll be going right to work on the next sequence. I hope you all bear with me once again as I muddle through this season. Things will get better…hell, you’d have likely had this update on Tuesday (or Monday) if it wasn’t for this bloody flu I’ve gotten. Even now I think it skewed my perception a little on that fourth comic.

Bah.

I’ve heard students tell each other to ‘shut up’ ‘shut the @#$% up’ and ‘@#$%, shut up!’ and rarely does it seem to actually cause the person it’s directed at to be quiet.

Today, it cause an otherwise sweet thirteen year old girl to begin to quietly bawl in the back of the classroom. She was told to ‘shut up’ while she was singing a rendition of ‘Jingle Bells’…and what bothers me, I think, is that when I passed by her earlier she sounded GOOD.

Legitimately good.

Yet here she was, crying, and telling me that she was no longer proud of her talent. This really bothered me. I mean it really, really pissed me off.

I did my best to make her feel better, I told her she sounded good, I reprimanded those around her for being needlessly rude. And by the end of the period she seemed to be feeling better. At least she had stopped crying and started working on her stupid, mundane, filler packet that I handed out yesterday.

After class I stopped her and told her that she shouldn’t let them get her down. But more than that I told her about when I first started the comic and some people gave me grief for it. Now, it’s rare I tell kids that I draw, or that I post them online (even today I didn’t give her my card…though I regret it). But that was my experience with jerks, one of too many to count…remember, I was picked on mercilessly in Junior High and High-school.

So she pulled out her binder and showed me her Sonic(tm) cartoons she had drawn. They were really quite cute as well. I asked if she was on Deviant Art…and that caught her off guard. I don’t think she expected me to know about DA (I am an ‘adult’ after all XD). She said she had forgotten how to post and I encouraged her to figure it out again.

Because if you enjoy something, you shouldn’t let anyone tell you that you aren’t good. It doesn’t matter what they think, only if you’re happy.

But I shouldn’t have to tell her this. People shouldn’t be assholes simply because they want to be assholes.

I’m not on some crusade to change the world, but at what point did it become okay to be an asshole? It hurts. It sucks. And people hate when others are assholes to them.

Yet they’ll turn around and tell someone that they suck and need to stop doing what they love because they suck. It makes no sense to me, it really doesn’t.

If you don’t like them, don’t listen. Don’t read them. Don’t insult people who are doing what they love just because they think they aren’t good.

The bottom line I’m trying to make is basically this: If you’re going to insult someone. Don’t. Just shut your goddamn mouth and realize that people will always disagree.

But if they’re happy, let them be.

Don’t insult someone when they’re singing CHRISTMAS CAROLS the day before Winter break.

Don’t insult them because they listen to music you don’t like.

Don’t. Be. An. ASSHOLE.

Think of it…an entire world devoid of assholes. Sounds good, right.

Let’s make it happen, people. Let’s stop being assholes. There’s no good reason for it.

And to the little girl who spent twenty minutes crying today, @#$% them. They’re not worth the time or the tears.

Do what you love, and be happy.

But they’re all fixed. Really. They’re cleaned up and proof-read to Hell and back. I know that they’re still not perfect, but without an editor (I’ve enlisted both my mother and grandmother) they’re as good as they’re going to get. So, if you read them already, you don’t have to go back and read them again, they’re not that different. But if you were one of those people who took one look at them and left, give them another try. I promise that they’re better.

Second. I’ve finally changed hosts, yet again. I wont tell you who (I want to actually give them a few weeks before I say they’re good or not), but they have a good rating and they’re even cheaper than that massive pile that was Dreamhost. Never, EVER use Dreamhost. EVER.

But these new guys promise to be much better. And is it my imagination, or is the site moving faster? I think it’s moving faster. But I also removed some stuff that might have been bogging us down. But I’m happier. Much happier.

I’m saving something like $80 a year.

This also leads me into my next point: The site is done. I’m not @#$%ing with it anymore. After ComicPress 2.9 comes out (which I’m running a beta one) and I make the switch I’m done. I’m done until Book Three.

I spend entirely too much time messing with shit here and I need to stop.

So I’m done with the site unless something explodes. But that what I’m hoping this new host helps me with. That way I’m not coming and checking on the site ever two hours wondering ‘is it dead?’ and my buddy isn’t texting me every few days saying ‘hey, your site’s down’.

Seriously, @#$% Dreamhost and the @#$%ing horse they rode in on.

Now for the stuff that doesn’t really pertain to the site, but you might find enlightening (IE: I’m bitching, walk away now).

Oh, thank god this arc is over. I actually really enjoyed it but I think that I jumped into it too quickly after the massive beast that was Book Two, Chapter Four. I needed a longer break and I didn’t give myself one. That and I really need to start taking the week of Christmas off. If it wasn’t one thing it was the other.

That and I had orientation for my new job the day that my Grandmother flew in and I had to drive to the other end of town.

So that sucked.

I won’t bore you with the smelly details of my life, I try not to, despite the fact that this is a blog. But basically I’ve been busy and feeling a little stressed. So I’m taking this week off totally (I’m only doing comic related stuff if I feel like it) then next week I’ll get to work on building a good and proper buffer, then we’ll see where I go from there.

But I’m actually feeling much better already (I send of a slightly frazzled Email to my friend yesterday, and if you’re reading this I’m feeling much better, haha). I’ve rearranged my room, so I have a little more space (though my drawing table is closer to my computer than I’d have liked…) and I also picked up some aroma therapy smelly things (the first one who laughs dies. Eventually. At their convince. Of old age more than likely) and I’m doing some stretches (again, first to laugh dies at their earliest convenience).

I also tried a new way of working on the comic that seemed to work quite smoothly. Basically I start to feel rushed when presented with a totally blank canvas, and I get bored of doing the same thing for too long (inking, coloring, shading, etc…) so I tried to do something I haven’t done in a long while, I did each panel individually, then combined them on the page.

It only took me an two hours and felt quite natural.

So I’m going to try that for a while and see if it sticks.

I’d appologize for it being so late, but honestly I never really set a date for the picture to be done…But as long as it’s before the end of August I’m in good shape. Which today is the last day of! So I’m clear! I was actually done last week sometime, but I decided that I needed the filler today, so I held off on posting it.

Which brings me to my next bit of ‘bad’ news. Wednesday’s comic might be a little late, Or there could even be some kind of filler.

Short version of the troubles: I’ve basically got until Friday to finish all the stuff I have to do to become a Substitute teacher and if I don’t do it I’ll have to start the WHOLE process over again. That’s not happening, so I might need to put the comic on the back burner this week.

But, to be quite honest, last week was rather nuts with me trying to get this all done AND handle what I thought was going to be a devastating semester at school (It’s not going to be, I’ve got a handle on it now and it might be my lightest yet). But I NEED to get these papers into the CCSD’s office BY FRIDAY. So It’s a mad rush to the finish line.

HE’S AWESOME!

Just a bit of randomness to announce that I’m alive and my friend and I made it to California in one piece…Though given the fact that we’ve been here for two days, maybe…well, it’s belated anyhow.

It’s been interesting. I met the much to nice folks from Zap! who seemed genuinely happy to have my fan-comic. I got the second book and I got Stacy the Stickle sketched in the cover, Haha…Plus I stopped by the Apple Geeks Booth and said hello. We’ll be bugging them again at the meet and greet on Sunday, but I’ve picked up a book and they both signed it and I got a little sketch of comic Hawk in it.

Full report on Monday…Or Wednesday. Whenever I get around to it.

I wish I could say that there was going to be another Hunter comic on Friday…But sadly this is the only one that I got done. And honestly, I should have had it done last Friday. Hunter will update on Friday with this comic but ‘uncut’…Basically @#$% will be uncensored.

I need nudity in this thing or something, otherwise what the hell is the point of calling it NSFW? Swearing ain’t that bad.

Remember, I’m out of town for the rest of this week. If I get some good ComiCon pics I’ll post them from my hotel, but otherwise I should be kind of dead to the world.

I’ve decided what the Filler on Monday will be, however. I’ll be doing a completely pencil drawing and I’ll be scanning it in Sunday night (or Monday early morning). I don’t know what it’ll be, but It’ll be totally pencil.

Don’t know what I’m doing this, but it seems like good practice.

It’s actually a wallpaper. The new page will eventually be linked from the extras page, I’ll also be doing some other minor things…like avatars and whatnot…but that’s a few weeks off (or whenever I get to it).

Anyhow, yes, it’s Susi and not one of the PKF gals…but I decided that I wanted a new wallpaper for my computer and I also wanted to practice clothes that hung loosely. So Hana and Adjana were out immediately (Hana wears jammies and Adjana wears a long nightgown) so I opted to use Susi.

I enjoyed drawing this one…It’s not often that I get a chance to draw someone in floppy, semi-revealing, clothes and not feel odd about it…she is a few hundred years old after all.

Anyhow, like I said, there’s some wallpaper in several flavors if you care to pick it up. I’ll also be putting up the picture in my DA gallery later today. Ok, it’s in my DA gallery now.

Oh…and Hunter updated today. You may want to check it out…I’m trying something new that may carry over to the PKF if I start to warm up to it. So go check it out.

Don’t worry. True to my word you don’t need to know anything about Jorrin, Ali, or even Omen to get this little part. Just that Hana had previous dealings with them.

And before you ask, yes, Jorrin’s office sits in the middle of an open field with no discernible access points. Why? Because that’s just the way that Jorrin rolls.

Also, something I actually mentioned in Hunter is that Ali is the first member of the Devil race that’s made an appearance in The PKF…I’ve never actually said it anywhere (but in the blog section of Hunter) so as you can likely guess…it’s not that important.

But it’s a little FYI if you’re curious about the red-eye receptionist.

I’m also very, VERY, happy with Ali and her design. Hana’s appearance at Jorrin’s is also to give all the people who haven’t bothered to read Lost Time a chance to get to know Jorrin and his associates. Like I’ve always said, Lost Time isn’t a prerequisite for enjoying the comic. I’ve made sure of that. But if you ARE interested in reading about Hana’s training, Jorrin’s office, or any of the other little things mentioned in the coming Hana comics then check out Lost Time.

ALSO, I’m likely to have something special for this Friday…actually…I KNOW I’ll have something special for you all Friday, it’s just a mater of packaging it a little better.

I’m not going to say much, other than enjoy the filler and be here on Wednesday for a proper comic.

It’s been a while since I’ve put up some random, middle of the story arc, filler…so I figure I’m able to get away with it.

Plus I’m using this to get a little more of a buffer going…blarg…schools not leaving much extra time. But hey, I can still find time to draw. So we’ll be at twice a week for a little bit. But I hope to do three a week again sometime. School can’t ALWAYS eat my face, right?

Don’t worry Eugene, Ami and the ZPF are only here to get this thing started. Soon we’ll move over to our regular heroes…it’s been a while since we’ve seen the others, hasn’t it? Ah well, big things are planned for this one.

I’m actually happy to have the ZPF back into the comic in a slightly large scale…it’s been lonely without them around to liven things up. Heh…Eugene’s getting back into the swing of things too, I always kind of imagined him as a totally smarmy bastard. He’s hitting on Ami and making misogynistic comments like he should be, which is nice.

And damn, Ami can @#$% up some people, right?

Yes, you may recognize the monsters invading the ZPF building, they come to us from the good old days, Chapter Five, specifically. But, true to my word, you don’t need to know much about them other than they’re vicious and plentiful.

Also, I should say that Cluster@#$% comes from ‘Burn after Reading’ (also ‘The Daily Show’) and I’ve been itching to use it in some kind of context. Heh, sorry, normally I resist that kind of urge but it just fit too well.
